Community Based Projects In Jordan

Work Ethics and Employability Training: Madaba

Known as the “City of Mosaics” Madaba is a respite for religious art and history. But, due to the centralized nature of the kingdom many residents maintain difficulty with scarce employment opportunities and insufficient vocational skill-sets. Because of this, JoWomenomics decided to implement a work ethics and employability training program for women’s empowerment. To initiate the training program Jowomenomics organized social dialogue and awareness sessions with community stakeholders and leaders. Beginning in March 2019 Jowomenomics outreached 262 community members to discuss issues facing women’s employment and economic inclusion.

ToT for Career Counselling

With the participation of 36 counsellors and four teachers, two ToT Career Counselling Training Workshops took place in Amman and in Aqaba . The goal of this training was to assess trainees’ experiences, preparedness to conduct career counselling sessions, as well as their opinions about gender inclusivity within in certain jobs.

Career Counseling

Jowomenomics implemented 4 pilot career guidance programs in Madaba and Thiban devised to change perception towards vocational work. The program was designed with the objective to change the culture of shame about vocational jobs as well as gender-based constraints related to career choices; particularly faced by women in relation to vocational work. Additionally, the pilot program successfully trained 50 counsellors from the Ministry of Education from all directorates.

Work Ethics and Employability Training: Shouneh

Shouneh located in the Balqa Governorate near the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth and because it is one of Jordan’s poverty pockets has one of the lowest employment rates in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. As a result of its low altitude which collects the countries rainfall the Northern Shouneh area can be ripe with vegetation, ready to be picked at a moments notice and the same can be said for it’s residents.
