JoWomenomics (JW) is a Jordanian non-profit organization envisioning a just society providing equitable opportunities and enabling work environments for women to fully partake in Jordan's economic and social development.
Since its inception in 2014, JW is continuously striving to attain its goal of gender equality across all 12 governorates of the Kingdom of Jordan.
JW provides gender training to women and girls to ensure greater agency and control over their lives. Building the capacity of women and girls in employability, basic life skills, work ethics, JW has established more than 30 private sector partnerships to train and employ 650 Jordanian and Syrian women in six communities across four Jordanian governorates.
In addition, JW believes that families and communities need to understand the importance of women economic participation. To that end, JW has conducted 52 FICR community dialogue sessions to challenge gender norms and transform belief systems, involving more than 4000 community members in critical discussions of women's role in the public sphere.
JW has also successfully advocated for the amendment of Articles 29 & 69 of the Jordanian Labour Law, introducing anti-harassment legislation and abolishing restrictions on working hours and access to specific sectors for women.
JW has set up a new think tank called FICRI (Feminist Integrated Center for Research
and Innovation) to address systemic gender inequality and biases and to establish institutions and policies committed that are committed to holistic, evidence-based approaches to tackle gender inequality. The Center uses feminist jurisprudence process encouraging authentic true dialogue about laws based on local knowledge and history.
Maintaining a visionary feminist ethos, the Feminist Integral Center for Research and Innovation (FICRI) maintains an ethos to produce an ecosystem that is conducive to innovative policy development; inclusive to gender equality and economic empowerment.
